    Hi gang!

So earlier this week I found out that my friend Ndubb also came over from "other place" but when I noticed their introduction thread it was already locked. Now, I know you do this and I don't have much complaints, but when I came online it was 2 - 3 days later and the thread was already locked.

As such my suggestion: lock such a thread 1 week (7 days) after the last post or 7 days after posting.

The reason I'm writing this is because I get the feeling that I got my friends into trouble, and I don't like that. See: I somewhat "abused" another thread to share in public what I wanted to share. Friends caught up, responded, but that was deemed offtopic. For the record: I can definitely agree with that ruling. But I also think it could have been avoided with a little more personal time on the introduction thread, not to mention that it was me who started it.

PM's work, but sometimes you just want to share stuff in public because... reasons :)

As always thanks for your time!

I will think about this. I do agree that it would be nice for stuff like this, but the disadvantage is that when it was open before, there were a LOT of comments like "Welcome", which were under the 5 words minimum.

I enforced this rule back when we had introduction threads to auto-lock when they were made due to
    1. It was a TON of "welcome", which bumped the thread (If you wished to welcome someone, hit the like button)
    2. Whole conversations were happening in introduction threads (one hit two pages of just questions back and forth). Introduction threads were just that: Introducing self. It wasn't like a PM or text message.
    3. Same with #1 but then people would comment on an introduction thread just to get trophy points and/or bump threads.
    4. The main reason was to steer people away from using the threads as their message board and utilize other features of the forums, such as profile pages or PM/Conversation, to talk to each other or ask questions regarding it.

As for if Aylin wishes to keep introduction threads back open for a week, that will be up to her.

I have thought about it and I will give it a trial-period of unknown duration (if I would give it a duration it's possible that there would be almost no introduction threads in that period, which makes it harder to test.

During the trial-period, introductions will remain open for +- a week. IF there are too many offtopic posts or too many posts of less than 5 words, the thread will be closed.
Note: I can't say how much I think is "too much".

Threads already closed will NOT be reopened, so the first thread this applies to is Zyn's intro thread
