While that may be true, the value is bound to fluctuate after Philia has been around longer, and there's been more chances for people to find them, and that was the point of this thread. Diamond shouldn't have a fixed price in my opinion so it can be allowed to scale, without someone referring back to 'well it has to be 100 I wont pay more'.

now I'm just going to say this philia hasnt been around longer because lothar was the first server created and the not on every server its easy to get diamonds like on aurelia because they have no crates and they have to go out and mine for there diamonds and on there the 100 per diamond rule has a say but on philia and lothar thats where i can kinda agree with itsept i dont cause the diamond rule is more or less a reference and if people could scale the price of them to what ever price they want then it would most likely be the Doom of the economy because people will more or less sell them for 1000000$ and no one whats to pay that much for a diamond and also there is basicly a unlimited amount of diamonds in a minecraft world so you cant run out of diamonds and you can get diamonds from looting chests from temples dungeons and end citys so i see no point in changing the rule its just my opinion and you may disagree with me but my opinion will never change :)

What I mean by Philia being around longer is that it's just been reset, so there wouldn't be that many for sale right now. The thing about people selling them for inflated prices is that no one will buy them, so the economy will still stay in check. You can sell an item for a ridiculous price all you want but there's no guarantee anyone will buy it. You bringing up the essentially unlimited supply is why I think this shouldn't be a rule, as you've said. There's unlimited supply of diamonds, why should there be a set price?

There's always going to be a problem of people pricing things entirely too high for anything, but no one is forcing people to buy from them. If you sell a carrot for example for 1 million, no one is going to buy it. It would be the same thing for diamonds.

Well first off, I think a good idea here is to compare this to a healthy economy, such as tf2. We can compare the main item in the tf2 economy the key. It never fluctuates in price and is always a constant(2.50$) we then see other items priced in terms of keys. This is an equivalent to an admin shop. The key itself gives mostly worthless drops but a small less than 1% chance for a cosmetic item. Never an upgrade to gameplay. What we can then say is that vanity is a great currency, so if we transferred this to mc we could have a crate, that could be bought for around 200k that would have mostly average gear. But a small chance for a piece of very good armour. The cost of the crate and the likely chance to get garbage would prevent people from opening them, rather opting to sell a key for more than the got it for. Now if we put this key in a vote crate for a while we could add a large amount of them into the economy and have a solid price point for it.

I'm not sure of the logistics. This reminds me of hugely deflated currencies of the late thirties where you literally brought a wheel barrow to the store to by bread and milk. Maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Slightly bumping this thread due to Philia reset and difficulty of getting diamonds from end/nether. (I personally got my diamond gear in end cities).
